Important Update Regarding Flood Cleanup and Debris Disposal

To the Residents of the Town of Liberty:

As we begin the recovery process from recent flooding, the Town of Liberty provides the following guidance for the disposal of flood-related materials.

Official Disposal Site
Please be advised that all flood-damaged items, including wet flooring, carpet, drywall, insulation, and contaminated sandbags, must be taken to the Outagamie County Recycling and Solid Waste facility. The Town of Liberty does not maintain a dedicated fund for natural disasters and is unable to provide local curbside pickup for flood debris or specialized disposal services at this time.

Facility Information
Residents can utilize the Outagamie County Resource Recovery Park located at 1919 Holland Road (Gate #3), Appleton, WI 54911.

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; Saturday, 7:00 am to 11:00 am.
  • Requirements: All open loads must be secured and covered with a tarp before traveling to the site.
  • Payment: The facility accepts cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

Safety and Documentation

  • Report Damage: We strongly encourage all residents to report property damage by calling 2-1-1 or using the 211 Wisconsin Online Damage Report.
  • Document Everything: Before disposing of any materials, take clear photos of the damage for insurance and potential relief claims.
  • Personal Safety: When handling debris, wear protective gear such as gloves, boots, and masks to avoid contact with potentially contaminated materials.

A Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) is now open to assist residents affected by recent flooding. The center brings together local, state, and community partners in one location to provide information, services, and support to individuals and families recovering from flood-related damage.

The MARC offers a range of resources, including assistance with housing and basic needs, public health guidance, mental health support, cleanup and safety information, and connections to disaster relief programs. Representatives from multiple agencies and organizations are available on-site to help residents navigate recovery and access available services.

Services available at the MARC may include:

  • Disaster relief and recovery assistance
  • Public health and safety information
  • Private well water and environmental health guidance
  • Food and nutrition support programs
  • Mental health and crisis counseling services
  • Insurance and housing assistance resources
  • Referrals to community-based organizations

Residents are encouraged to bring any relevant information related to their needs if available.

The MARC is intended to be a one-stop resource for those impacted by flooding, helping to simplify the recovery process and connect individuals with the support they need.

For more information about the Multi-Agency Resource Center, including participating organizations and available services, visit www.outagamie.gov/OCFloods.

Residents affected by flooding are reminded to call 2-1-1 to report their damages and/or identify needs they may have.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work through these challenges together.

Sincerely,
Town of Liberty Board

Tires

Recently, we have had tires dumped in a resident’s field, which is NOT ok. If anyone has any information, please let one of our Board members know. Thank you.

Outagamie County Maintenance of Public Land Survey System Corners

In 2023, Westwood will have field crews visiting corner monuments in Township 23 North, Range 15 East which will include the Town of Maple Creek and part of the Town of Liberty. We will also have field crews in the Township 23 North, Range 16 East which will include the Town of Bovina and the Village of Shiocton. The field work will happen throughout the year and will require the field crews to access private property to maintain many of the corner monuments. Wisconsin State Statute 59.73(2)
provides that a County surveyor, professional land surveyor or their assistants are not liable as a trespasser when providing these services.

New .gov Website

State and local election offices are increasingly tasked with countering false or misleading information, because of this using a .gov domain for our online services helps the public quickly identify our website as a trusted government source. This is different from other well-known TLDs, where anyone in the world can register for a fee. Malicious actors know this, and have sought to impersonate election organizations using non .gov domains. Over all using .gov increases our security in the digital world.

Please bear with us as we bring this site back up to full capacity.
